Host a Coaching Workshop

Would your community of informal STEM educators would benefit from having shared language and understanding on supporting STEM learning? Are other educators and institutions in your area who may be interested in implementing Reflecting on Practice? Consider hosting a Coaching Workshop facilitated by RoP Leaders for your local community.

The host site offers a workshop space, assists with catering arrangements, recruits 20-26 educational professionals interested in Reflecting on Practice. Regional workshops are intended to cultivate new and strengthen existing relationships within local/regional communities. Workshop fee waived for up to 3 participants for host.

Who, What, Why?

Reflecting on Practice™ Coaching Workshops are professional learning experiences that teach workshop participants how to lead the Reflecting on Practice program at their own institutions. Coaching Workshop participants become RoP Facilitators, and continue their own learning as they facilitate the program for colleagues back at their institution.

Who participates?

Coaching Workshop participants are leaders and/or emerging leaders (mid-level manager, coordinators, or directors) from education or volunteer departments at informal learning institutions. They will return to lead their colleagues through the Reflecting on Practice program.

We highly recommend at least two individuals per institution participate in a workshop, so they may be learning partners and team-teach the program after the workshop.

What to expect?

Deep thinking, intense discussions, thoughtful reflections, engaging activities, budding friendships, and LOTS of inspiration.

Why attend?

  • Be immersed into the philosophy & design of the Reflecting on Practice program.
  • Gain firsthand experience with the discussions, reflections, & activities from the program.
  • Learn current research on learning & teaching, and how it applies to your own practice.
  • Create long-lasting relationships with other RoP Facilitators.
  • Receive the curriculum and access to web-portal for additional supporting materials.

How much does it cost?

Coaching Workshops are fee-based, and fees vary by region. There are currently need-based scholarships available through support from the National Science Foundation (DRL-1612515). Inquire of RoP Leaders at the site where you wish to participate.
